Patrice was born and raised in the beautiful Pacific Northwest region of the USA, where her dual passions for art and nature were nurtured. Formal training began in early childhood and continued through her 20’s. Additional degrees in landscape architecture and psychology enrich her art and – during lean times – have enabled her to work as a landscape architect, a commercial artist, and a conservation planner.
INSPIRATION
Patrice has traveled extensively and has resided in California, Colorado, and Italy, as well as Washington state. “I love to savor a variety of landscapes – the colors, landforms, scents, plants and animals. My paintings invite the viewer to experience what I have absorbed.”
METHOD
“I do not work from photos and never pre-plan my paintings. Instead, I turn off my thoughts and let my subconscious deliver impressions to the canvas via the brush. When a painting is finished, it is a composite of impressions instead of a specific place or object.”
STYLE
Patrice’s style features recognizable forms along with abstract shapes and textures that energize the forms and draw the viewer’s eye through the composition. Bold, rich colors add impact and excitement.
Within her vibrant dream-like landscapes, viewers often find hidden images she did not intentionally create. “The viewers interpret what they see through the lens of their own memories, which makes the painting an intriguing and personal experience.”
TODAY
Patrice’s own path has come full-circle. Today she lives beside the Salish Sea in her native Washington state, passionately pursuing nature and art.
